In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there were obtained results in the sites of monitoring (2004-2007) on peat soils contaminated by 137Cs and 90Sr. Effect of botanical composition, capacity, degree of mineralization and agrochemical properties of peat soils on transfer of radionuclides from soil to cereal herbage was studied. In course of the study there were analysed moss-cany-sedgy; cany- sedgy; sedgy; sedgy-cany; and scheuchzeria-sedgy soils. Research results showed that yielding capacity of perennial cereal grasses depended on the content of mobile forms of potassium. With the increase of K2O within the range of 100-350 mg/kg of soil there was marked the increase of green mass on 176 centner/ha per each 100 mg of K2O increase in soil. There was increase in productivity of the studied grasses. The lowering of 137Cs and 90Sr radionuclides transfer into green mass of perennial grasses (up to 2-3 times) in most of the cases was determined by lowering the degree of soil acidity.
