This documents the proceedings of a seminar held in 2002 in Bangkok in Thailand to address current issues in rural education. The editor states that rural education has historically focused on higher level agricultural training, but that as non-farm activities become more and more significant for the 70% of the world population that lives in rural areas, it is important for education to catch up.The report follows the structure of the seminar, it is structured along five thematic lines:education for all, the rural challengeenhancing food security through education and trainingtargeting rural povertyresponding to the transformation of rural labour marketsHIV/AIDS in rural areasThe second part of the report includes selected papers from the seminar around the themes above.
