Objective was to study intake and performance of feedlot male calves fed ammonistreaeted and untreated wheat and barley straw. Twenty heads of Golpayegani male calves (with age of 11 to 13 month) with average weight of 130.05 22.35 kg. were used in a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5 replication for 141 days. In the trial, 21 days of adaptation period and 120 days of fattening period considered. The rations were composed of 4 treatments of ammoniated wheat straw (4.5% solution). ammoniated barley straw (4.5% solution), wheat straw and barley straw , 1 4 , respectively. Forty five percent of required dry matter supplied by concentrate and all types of straws fed ad lib. The results showed that ammoniated wheat straw had highest dry matter intake (5.85 kg.) and daily gain (800 g.). For other treatments , average daily dry matter intake were 4.49, 4.62 and 4.27 kg. and and for daily gain for daily gain were 713 , 487 and 493 g. , respectively .There was significant differences between experimental groups 0f 1 and 2 compared to groups of 3 and 4 ( P 0.05 ) for dry matter intake and daily gain. Feed conversion rate (FCR) were 7.58 , 7.13 , 9.67 and 9.39 for treatments of 1- 4, It can be concluded that ammoniated wheat and barley straw would improve daily gain and FCR of feedlot male calves
