This research was conducted to semi detail soil survey of Dare-Badam forestry research station in Kermanshah Province. Dare-Badam forestry research station covers 4384.2 ha and is located in 15 km far from the southeast of Eslamabad-gharb. Climate is humid and cold in winter and moderately hot and dry in summer. Soil temperature and moisture regimes were distiguished Thermic and Xeric, respectively. Limestone and marl were main soil parent materials in the study area. An initial map was prepared using aerial photograph interpretation according to geopedologic approach. Three landscapes, four relief/moldings, nine landforms, and four soil orders including Entisols, Inceptisols, Vertisols, and Mollisols were distinguished in the study area. Entisols and Inceptisols mainly were formed on mountain and hillland areas. Inceptisols, Vertisols, and Mollisols were formed mainly on piedmonts. Parent material, topography, and climate are the main soil forming factors that controls soil formation. Top soil textures are silt loam to clay and soil structures in the most profiles are subangular blocky. The amounts of fine and coarse gravels are high in the mountains and hilllands area ranging from 25-80%. Soil reaction, EC and soil organic carbon ranges 6.9-7.8, 0.23-2.2 (ds/m), and 0.83 to 6.35 %, respectively. The content of CaCO3 in surface and subsurface horizons ranges 1.5-48.7% and 5-77%, too. The land evaluation for forestry showed that rainfall shortage and low ratio of rainfall to potential evapotranspiration are the most important climatic limiting factors. In Mountainous and Hillands areas, steep slopes (35%) and shallow soil depth (40cm) are the main limiting factor for forestry.
