The study was conducted in East Nile province, Urn Duban locality, 'Khartoum State, with the purpose of assessing the role of personal characteristics of rural pregnant and breast feeding mothers on changing knowledge and practice towards healthy feeding. Knowledge and practice of respondents were evaluated before and after broadcasting of a TV program designed for this purpose. The study showed that changes in knowledge towards efficient nutrition were not associated with respondents personal characteristics for all the knowledge items measured. Changes in pregnant women's nutritional practices were found significantly associated with their educational level, occupation, family size and age group, but not with their income. Breast feeding practices related to healthy feeding were found significantly associated with their family size, -age group, and occupation. These were however not associated with their income and educational level. It was recommended to continue education on nutrition through TV programs
