Various constitutive models have been proposed by several researchers to describe various aspects of soil behaviour in details and also to apply such models in finite element modelling for agricultural and geotechnical engineering applications. It must be emphasised here that no soil constitutive model available can completely describe the complex behaviour of real soils under all conditions. In this paper, several different soil models are considered and compared: the elastic-plastic models according to Drucker-Prager, Mohr-Coulomb, and the modified von Mises criterion as well as a volumetric crushing model.
