The paper presents overview of classification and selected properties of Cambisols on the base of survey on permanent monitoring plots in forests of Slovakia that was realized in the frame of European demonstration project BioSoil. The project was a part of implementation of Regulation Forest Focus on monitoring of forests and environmental interactions. Results of classification according to WRB 2006 (respective qualifiers and specifiers for Cambisols determined on the base of diagnostic horizons, diagnostic properties and diagnostic materials or other criteria) are referred in the paper as well as results of analytical determination of properties of samples from defined depths. Substantial heterogeneity and variability of Cambisols is illustrated by results of some physical properties (coarse fragments content, texture) and chemical properties (organic carbon content, pH, base saturation).
