During the post-harvest handling of potatoes stones, clods of soil, crop residues are removed, sorting and product processing is made, including cleaning, sorting, grading and packaging. The number of operations is directly related to the technology of postharvest treatment of potatoes, its purpose. Cleaning quality of the tubers depends not only on the type, size distribution of the soil, its moisture content, but also on the varietal characteristics of potatoes. The aim of this work is to establish the influence of high-quality features of potato tubers (form and nature of the surface of the tuber's jacket) by the coefficient of adhesion (stickiness of the soil to the tubers). According to the results of the experiment it is found that the best separation of soil contaminants is on the tubers grown in peat and sandy loam soils, and cleaning of the tubers grown on loamy and clay soils from soil contaminants is difficult. These results make it possible to establish the necessary modes of peeling potatoes in the dry cleaning machine. Experimental studies to determine the coefficient of adhesion formed the basis for the development of calibration table of setting of design parameters and operating modes of the machine for cleaning potato depending on different soil types and the varieties of potato tubers.
