Since there are some similarities, detection of beet cyst nematode can be done using criteria similar to other nematodes (Globodera rostochensis and Globodera pallida) given in Regulation No 75/2010 Coll. Sampling on previously untested plot comprises standard sample - 1 000 ml of soil on 1 ha taken from at least 100 partial samples (cuts) on one hectare in a rectangular coordinate system covering the whole plot with the width 10x10 m. Samples are taken in lines in the direction of cultivation in the immediate vicinity of the host plant (area of rhizosphere) approx. 30 cm deep. Extraction of beet cyst worm cysts is usually done by floating method in equipment working on the principle of Fenwick can and their modification. One method considered reliable is microscopic (morphological-morphometrical) analysis or molecular analysis of cysts and larvae performed by properly trained laboratory workers.
