This paper reviews present knowledge concerning Thrips palmi Karny, a dangerous pest of eggplant and cucurbit crops in French West Indies (Guadeloupe and Martinique) with information on its economic incidence in these islands. It summarizes the data relative to the distribution and host plants of this species all over the world. The damage it causes is described and the tolerable pest densities on eggplant, sweet pepper and cucumber are given with some information on its ecology on these crops. It underlines also current knowledge on its biology (life history, effect of host plant and temperature), ecology and on the various means of control that have been tested in different countries. Indications are given on mass and experimental rearing methods. These data are completed with the first observations in Guadeloupe.

On y trouvera aussi les connaissances actuelles sur sa biologie, sur son écologie et sur les moyens de lutte qui ont été testés ou utilisés dans divers pays. Ces données sont complétées par les premières observations réalisées en Guadeloupe.
