The allelopathic effects of weeds on growth and yield of Iranian wheat cultivars under outfield controlled conditions.

This experiment was carried out to study the effects of phytoinhibitins and saproinhibitins in different organs of someweeds with allelopathic effects inhibiting growth and yield of wheat cultivars under outfield controlled conditions (Pot experiment). The experimental design was CRD in factorial arrangement including 1st factor as wheat cultivars Hirmand, Qods and Falat and 2nd factor as weeds treatments in 3 replicates considering each pot as an experimental unit. The studied characteristics were stem height, tiller number, seeds number per spike, thousand grain weight, spike length, phenotype and biological yield.Wheat seeds (5 seeds per pot) were planted symmetrically in 3-4cm depth.The pots handled in controlled conditions (accordingly monthly day/night temp, humidity etc.) The range of relative humidity percentage was 35-55 but the temperature range was day/night and growing season dependent.The results showed that the continuous weed presence in the field as residue cause variation in growth of wheat cultivars.These effects had no similar intensity on growth of the studied cultivars, some cultivars were more (Hirmand) but some were less resistant (Ghods). The natural multiple presences of the weeds in the field may have less allelopathic intensity effects on wheat cultivars. Tiller number was more in case of irrigating cultivars with water containing multiple weeds extracts. Weeds extracts had different effects on morphological traits in studied wheat cultivars especially faster germination comparing with the control treatment.
