The source of planting material for the production of lakatan is crucial, considering that this variety is the most susceptible to BBTV disease. The focus of this research is to assess the production performance of lakatan production from different planting stock. The study made use of three types of planting materials-tissue culture, sucker and corm. The effect on yield in lakatan production by these planting materials was identified using partial budget analysis. Analysis of variance was used to test the existence of significant differences among variables in the study like number of leaves, number of bunch, number of fingers and weight of bunch and the BBTV incidence. Return of expenses derived from tissue culture is 90.90% which is the least of the three types of planting material since cost of planting material is high in tissue culture plantlets. Return of investment from sucker is 130.26% while corm is 147.97%. The BBTV incidence from both sucker and corm is 2, meaning 5% of the total plants were infected which were more than compared to tissue culture planting material which is only 1, meaning 1% of the total plants were infected. Though differences are significantly comparable, this showed the advantage of using tissue culture in controlling the occurrence and spread of the disease. Differences in growth and yield performance of lakatan from the different types of planting source are not significant. The comparable yield exhibited by the three types of planting material implies that sucker and corm can be a source of planting material when tissue culture plantlets are not available. Considering also the cost of planting material from tissue culture, corm and sucker can be used as planting material provided that they are source out from a clean plantation, since latent infection usually occur in sucker and corm.
