This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of brassinolide (Br) alone or in combination with IAA or IBA on induction and elongation of shoots generated from apical meristems of bananas (Musa spp. Cv. Lakatan, Latundan, Saba Bungulan) cultured in-vitro. Bananas (Musa spp. cv. Lakatan, Latundan, Saba, Bungulan) were used in the study. The Murashige and Skoog (1962) medium was used as basal medium including MS vitamins and 20 g/L sucrose. Media was solidified with agar after adjusting the pH to 5.8 + 0.1 and autoclaved for 15 min at 121 deg C and 15 psi. Plant growth regulators; IAA, BA and Br were added to the medium after autoclaving. The study was conducted using factorial in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications, both during the proliferation and rooting stages. The treatments used were as follows: Factor A (banana cultivars) consisted of C1 (Lakatan), C2 (Latundan), C3 (Saba) and C4 (Bungulan) and Factor B (plant growth regulators) were PGR1 (IAA), PGR2 (Br), and PGR3 (IAA and Br). The cultivar of banana and the plant growth substances affect the number of buds produced, shoot length, root length and stem girth. The interaction of these two factors (cultivar X PGR) influences the number of buds produced in vitro and the shoot length of the meriplants.
