2012
Igityan, N.
At present, rapid development and popularity of e-commerce has made increasingly essential and important the study of B2C e-commerce characteristics in the emerging economies. This thesis discusses the factors that determine adoption and development of B2C e-commerce in developing countries, particularly the case of Armenia. In order to have a clear understanding of both parties participating in B2C e-commerce in Armenia, both consumer and business sides were investigated. A questionnaire survey was conducted among the Armenian population that allowed understanding of the key factors affecting B2C e-commerce development from the consumers' point of view. An investigation of Armenian B2C e-commerce websites was also carried out in order to understand the current status and the level of deployment of specific characteristics of e-commerce (i.e. payment systems, delivery options) by businesses in Armenia. As a result, the study identified and analysed the factors that favour or impede B2C e-commerce development in Armenia. Recommendations were offered for future work to be carried out in fostering B2C e-commerce development in the studied country.
