The aim of the present study was to determine the efficiency of transrectal ultrasonography for diagnosis of early pregnancy in goats. The study was conducted on 69 goats (at the age 1-7 years and live weight 47-74 kg) of Bulgarian White Milk breed and its cross-breeds with Togenburg and Anglo-Nubian breeds. Transrectal ultarsonography was applied. The equipment included digital portable ultrasound system ALOKA ProSound 2 (Aloka Co., Ltd.,)* supplied with electronic linear transducer UST 5820, with frequency of 7,5 MHz. According to the conducted insemination and hence the gestation phase of the examined goats, they were divided in two groups: First group - up to 40th gestation day (13 goats) and Second group - after 40th gestation day (56 goats). The pregnancy was determined for 60 goats at a different stage of pregnancy. During the ultrasonographic examination around 20th – 40th day of pregnancy (First group) was visualized the uterine cavity filled with a little amount of liquid and embryonic vesicle, which indicated the presence of early pregnancy. That group was positively diagnosed for pregnancy in 61.5% of the animals. After the 40th gestation day (Second group), the pregnancy diagnosis is determined according to the presence of fetus or parts of fetus, as well as the presence of placentoma. That group was positively diagnosed for pregnancy in 92.8% of the animals.
