The general aim in the breeding of cross-pollinated perennial forage has so far been to develop improved synthetic populations. This project continues the research project" Determination of general combining ability withpolycross test for Azarbaijan alfalfa ecotypes". The results of mentioned project showed large variation among ecotypes indicating the success of selection among their progenies so based on general combining ability, especially for fresh and dry yield, some ecotypes were selected as parents for developing synthetic variety. Then "Polycross of selected alfalfa ecotypes and producing Syn1 seed" was done and selected cultivars were evaluated in"Evaluation of selected alfalfa cultivars from polycross test for winter survival" project too. In this project Baftan, Khaje, Alhord, Garayonje promising cultivars and produced synthetic variety performance were compared with a local cultivar. They were planted in Einadin- Bosatan abad region in RCB design in a farm condition and evaluated for 4 years. The results data were analyzed as combined and annually.Resistance of cultivars to alfalfa weevil pest and Brown or Psedopeziza leaf spot disease were evaluated too. The results of analysis of variance and means comparisons showed produced synthetic variety is superior to other cultivars in the experiment and can be introduced as a new cultivar. Keywords: Alfalfa, Polycross, Promising cultivars, Synthetic variety
