Despite the potential links between soil fertility and crop protection, the evolution of IPM (integrated pest management) and ISFM (integrated soil fertility management) have proceeded separately. The cabbage aphid, Brevicoryne brassicae (L.) is the most important pests of canola (Brassica napus L.) in Iran. Two same field trials (control and infested) were conducted to study the effect of macroelements (NPK) fertilization on cabbage aphid infestation and some of agronomic parameters of rapeseed SLM046 at Borujerd Agricultural Research Station during 2002-2003. The RCBD with factorial arrangement was used with three factors, N (N0=0, N1=190, N2=270, N3=350 Kg/ha), P (P1=0, P1=150 Kg/ha) and K (K1=0, K2=100 Kg/ha). Result showed that, at both stem and blooming stages of canola, aphid population was significantly affected by fertilizer treatments. At the beginning of stem stage (in late March), when the urea was applicated at the second time, aphid infestation in fertilization level N4 significantly decreased. But after the blooming stage (in late April), when the urea was applicated at the third time, aphid infestation in N4 was increased. In agronomic parameters, number of pods/main stem and plant height varied significantly among different treatments. In infested trail, the plant height and number of pods in N4P2K2 were significantly increased, whereas in control trail, it was no significant among treatments. According to this research, N alone and its interaction with P and K, significantly decreased the damage of B. brassicae in the canola fields.
