Weeds, pathogens and insects are three major biotic factors that limit sugar beet production directly. The damage of these factors to sugar beet is high and they can reduce it's production by 42, 30 and 28(%) respectively. Sugar beet fields evaluations in 14 provinces of Iran indicated that weeds are the major factor that limit sugar beet production in different locations. In addition to weeds, pathogens and insects are also other factors that threaten sugar beet production seriously. Although sugar beet fields spray against pests every year, but annual damages to sugar beet indicate that chemical methods have not enough efficacy for pest management and that is why integrated pest management (IPM) is necessary for suppressing of biotic harmful factors. In addition to low efficacy of chemical methods, pesticide resistance and environmental pollution are other problems that necessitates revising of pest management strategies. In order to optimize sugar beet pest management in Iran, a project conducted at Khorasan Razavi, khozestan, West Azarbayejan, Hamadan, Tehran, Esfehan, and Kermanshah during 1379 to 1384. In this project, 30 experimental researches conducted and our objects were: 1- Identification of pest management problems in sugar beet 2- Gathering of prior information resulted from experimental researches on pests of sugar beet 3- Identification of research gaps 4- Try to finding integrated methods for management of pests in sugar beet fields
