In order to determine the yield stability and genotype Χ environment interactions among 40 advanced barley lines/varieties including two local controls (Nimrooz/Sahra and EBYTW89-5), genotypes were evaluated in a multi-location test (ABYT1) and in two separate experiments (ABYT2). ABYT1 was conducted in four stations in the warm regions of Iran including: Ahvaz, Darab, Gonbad and Zabol and ABYT2 were conducted in two separate experiments: one in Ahvaz and Darab and one in Gonbad and Zabol stations in 2012-2013. Each experiment comprised 18 advanced lines/varieties that together with controls were tested in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Combined analysis of variance showed significant difference among genotypes, locations and genotype Χ location effect for ABYT1. In contrast, in combined ANOVA for ABYT2 experiment of Ahvaz and Darab significant difference was found only for genotypes whereas for ABYT2 experiment of Zabol and Gonbad significant difference was observed for locations and genotype Χ location effects but not among genotypes. Mean comparisons of yield among genotypes using Duncan multiple range test was used to compare grain yields of the genotypes to the controls. In total, by using non-parametric stability parameters such as rank of the yield in different locations (R) and standard deviation of the rank (SDR) as well as good agronomic traits such as early maturity, resistance to diseases and lodging 18 superior genotypes were chosen to be retested for their performance in the warm zone's Elite barley yield trial in the following cropping season.
