A bacterium CGH18 exhibiting antioxidizing and Chitin-degrading activities in the colloidal chitin culture medium ws isolated from salt-fermented crab. This strain was identified as Bacillus idriensis based on 16S rDNA sequence homology search. Its crude extract was partitionaled between n-BuOH and H2O. The organic layer was further partitioned between CH2 Cl2 and H2O.
