A few years ago had an economic crisis in Latvia. People lost their jobs en masse and thus diminished their revenue. In some families where both adults lost their jobs, the situation was very terrible – there was not even than feed children. In our country there are social benefits, but it's only temporary assistance. To help scanty families, the charitable project „Paēdušai Latvijai” has been created. The aim of this paper – consult employees charitable project „Paēdušai Latvijai” and low-income beneficiaries about charity in General and specifically charity project. Research questions: „what is a „charity”?”; „As employees of the charity project „Paēdušai Latvijai” and low-income beneficiaries under this project understand the essence of charity?”; „As employees of the project and the poor rate Act recipients who donate to charity?”; „That means to request assistance for needy charitable projects? How can I evaluate this?” In the paper is considered concept „charity”, charity history, its essence, the purposes, motivation of participation of people in charitable actions. The paper builds upon two sociological theories: the theory of social action and social exchange theory. It was conducted qualitative research to know the employees of the charity project „Paēdušai Latvijai” and low-income beneficiaries about philanthropy in General and specifically charity project. Completing results, authors of the work reached conclusions that beneficiaries are satisfied with the assistance gives charity project. Employees of project „Paēdušai Latvijai” and low-income beneficiaries consider working on this project effective.
