The research aim is to offer a solution for the improvement of software product quality through the improvement of quality assessment of study programmes in information technologies and acquisition of software product quality. The following tasks have been advanced in the research process to achieve the set aim: 1) to study the role and significance of quality in the life cycle of software products; 39 2) to analyse quality models of software products; 3) to analyse the present methods and approaches applied to management of the study process quality; 4) to analyse the applicability of software product quality model in the sphere of education; 5) to define an extended life cycle of software product quality model with the included study process; 6) to develop a single quality model for the quality evaluation of software development, and evaluation of software development and study quality; 7) to approbate the single quality model for the quality evaluation of study programmes; 8) to develop a concept for the inclusion of software quality model in the study programme of information technologies

لاتفيا. Promocijas darba mērķis ir piedāvāt risinājumu programmatūras produktu kvalitātes uzlabošanai, pilnveidojot informācijas tehnoloģiju studiju programmu kvalitātes novērtēšanu un programmatūras produkta kvalitātes apguvi. Definētā mērķa sasniegšanai pētījuma procesā ir izvirzīti šādi darba uzdevumi: 1) izpētīt kvalitātes lomu un nozīmi programmatūras produktu dzīves ciklā; 2) veikt programmatūras produkta kvalitātes modeļu analīzi. 3) analizēt esošās metodes un paņēmienus studiju kvalitātes nodrošināšanai. 4) analizēt programmatūras produkta kvalitātes modeļa izmantojamību izglītības sfērā; 5)definēt paplašinātu programmatūras produkta kvalitātes modeļa dzīves ciklu, ietverot tajā studiju procesu; 6) izstrādāt vienotu kvalitātes modeli programmatūras izstrādes un studiju kvalitātes novērtēšanai; 7) veikt vienotā kvalitātes modeļa aprobāciju studiju programmu kvalitātes novērtēšanai; 8) izstrādāt koncepciju programmatūras kvalitātes modeļa iekļaušanai informācijas tehnoloģiju studiju programmā.
