Issues and challenges in modern civilisation -food security, natural disaster, climate change, lost of biodiversity and unsustainable human activities have become the main concern worldwide. The need of sustainable agriculture through conservation and utilisation of agrobiodiversity is very important to solve these issues. Agrobiodivetsity can best describe the relationship of agriculture and biodiversity, importantly on understanding how the activity of agriculture can produce massive impacts to biodiversity and environment. Conservation is important for keeping biological resources for furure generation. Conservation strategies through on-farm conservation, cryopreservation, tissue culture, arthropod museum and microbe collection are the examples discussed in the paper for the benefit of the nation to solve food security issue and for wealth creation. 1be conserved agrobiodiversity components are utilised through research and development in several dusters plantgenetic resources, food and industrial crops, medicinal use, arthropods and microbes, animal genetic resources, green technology production and biotechnology. Rice varieties with high yield and tolerant to pest and diseases are developed, food with medicinal values, biopesticides and biofertiliser are some of the products utilised from agrobiodiversity resources. The product can generate new income to the farmers, to the industry as well as to the country. In realising the importance of management of sustainable agrobiodiversity, MARDI will continue to establish proper R&D in conservation and utilisation of agrobiodiversity related to food and agriculture.
