The role of plant initial material from other regions improves in the selection process. In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there were realized triennial results (2008-2010) of the researches of the variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum) of the West European selection in collection nursery, its yielding capacity and resistance to fungous diseases in natural field conditions. The studied samples were presented by the collection of the N.I.Vavilov Research Institute of Plant Industry (Russia). The origin of the agronomic characters necessary for further selection process of the soft winter wheat from the sample collection have been selected. Research results showed that the West European collection of winter wheat possesses insufficient winter hardiness. The average winter hardiness was marked for the following samples: Ina, Flame, Gingiostardzhani, and Apollo. Among the foreign collection there was marked a high stable biological yielding capacity for the following varieties: Sida, Knal, and Milan. The maximum quantity of productive stalks was generated by varieties Yadvisya (Belarus), Gingiostardzhani (Italy) and Ina (Poland) – 709.8; 671.2; and 672.3 pieces per 1 square meter respectively.
