In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was realized evaluation of collection material of basil (Ocimum basilicum) plants by their main economic and biologiocal traits in order to select the perspective variety samples. The research took place on the experimemtal field in 2010-2011 on sod-podzolic averahe loamy soil. In course of the study there were used varieties of basil received from the world collection N.I.Vavilov Research Institute of Plant Industry (Russia). The characteristic of basil specimens of various phenotypes according to the duration of development phases and efficiency of plants was given. The comparative estimation of basil specimens of various phenotypes showed that among them on efficiency of basil specimens number 5, 73, K-42 are the best, of basil specimens number 48, K-63 belong to the early ripening, to late-ripening — number 73. Duration of the interphase periods allows having the stretched period of consumption of greens of basil at one term of crops. Variability of basil specimens of various phenotypes allows ensuring at special selection a big crop during the long period.
