Selenium represents an important trace element, influencing the physiological status and productivity of cattle. Numerous researches, carried out in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus and neighboring countries revealed positive influence of inclusion of selenium-containing feed additives in young animals' rations. Therefore, the main goal of the research appears determination of the norm of inclusion of selenium in compound feeds for young animals and research of the efficiency of its impact on animals' health and productivity. Selenium-containing substance represents sodium selenite in proportion of 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 mg per 1 kg of dry matter of feed. Feeding of young cattle with mixed fodder enriched with sodium selenite helps to increase average daily gain of calves on 14.1% and to decline feed costs on 10.1%.
