In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there were presented the results of studies on application of the new scheme of selection of initial material from clones of the potato (Solanum tuberosum) intended for the further reception by biotechnological methods of parent plants of a potato. It is shown that owing to high-sensitivity molecular methods of diagnostic ELISA and PCR analysis on a complex of pathogens with application of indexation there was a possibility to identify a healthy starting material before introduction in culture in vitro. Investigations were carried out in accordance with the scheme of selection of healthy potato clones. According to the scheme, carried out by ELISA there was realized testing of indices obtained from 462 potato clones for the presence of latent infection to Potato Virus X, Potato Virus Y, Potato Virus S and Potato Virus M. According to the analysis there were revealed 328 clones of varieties: Manifest, Uldar, Dina and Lasunak free from viral infection. It is presented in the tested samples in pure or in mixed form. Potato Virus X was marked in 9%, Potato Virus Y – in 5%, Potato Virus S – in 14.5%, and Potato Virus M – in 16% of tested clones.
