The data on change of biochemical processes in the peat soils located in various hydrologic and climatic zones of the Republic of Belarus are presented in the article. It is established that activity of the main enzymes decreased by 1,2-2,3 times at advance from the south to the north. It provides evidence of considerable delay of the processes of transformation of organic matter of peat soils and reflects a longer period of their preservation. It is established that in the southern and central zones of the republic activity of enzymes is defined by the content of organic substance in the layer of 0-20 cm. Activity of peroxidase in the central zone along with activity of all enzymes in a northern zone doesn't depend on a stage of transformation of peat soils. The activity indicator of poly-phenol-oxidase can be used for an assessment of the content of easily hydrolyzed mineral (ammonium and nitrate) nitrogen.
