Sod waterlogged soils represent the type of soils widely spread all over the Brest Polesye region because of nearness of ground water. The article presents the results of the research of overall content and the qualitative composition of humus in Brest Polesye waterlogged soils. The character changing the composition of the humus content of waterlogged soils, depending on the type of land, the degree of moisture and particle size distribution is considered. It is shown that the humus content of waterlogged soils in the south-western region of the Republic of Belarus increases and qualitative composition of humus gets better with increasing of the degree of hydromorphic soils. Arable sod swampy soils are characterized with great decline of humus content due to drainage reclamation and implementation of other agro-technical measures, promoting development of aerobic conditions and mineralization of humus, but along with this providing the features of fractional and group composition of humus of natural meadow soils.
