Quality of cereals as a raw material for the food and the feed production is significantly reduced by the presence of mycotoxins. For the study of the effect of mycotoxins in ruminant nutrition we used the device "Vitrogest", which functional part titled "reactor for testing feeds" (utility model registration number PU 6596-97) enables samples cultivation in a defined volume of culture medium (40 ml). We can highlight an interesting finding that the activity of rumen microflora in the culture medium decreased with the duration of barley cultivation by comparing the inoculated and non-infected samples. These drops were recorded since right after 10th hour or 12th hour of cultivation duration. At proceedings hours this decrease was not recorded and in 8th hour many samples there showed even increase in the gas production. Taking into account the rumen juice´s dilution there was found an average decrease in the number of ciliates by 12 thousands in 1 ml by the cultivation of inoculated samples comparing with the cultivation of non-infected samples regarding the harvest of 2011, and by 5,5 thousands regarding the samples from the harvest of 2012.
