Evaluation and selection of plant lines with desirable traits in barley populations and segregating generations

In order to achieve genetic purity, F2, F3-Fn populations and segregating generations were investigated via single plant selection and genotypes with high yield and desirable quantitative and qualitative traits,were selected. In this study 117, F2 populations from Karaj crosses and 270, F3-Fn. generations that had been derived from selection of previous generations were investigated via modified pedigree bulk method. Selection started from spike appearance and was conducted twice till harvest date. The selected single plant from F2 populations, F3 and F4 generating were bulked with each other. Each F5 population planted in two rows with two-meter length and 2o Cm distance between rows. Each of ten selected single plant, from F5 and F6 generations were harvested separately and will be source of F6 and F7 population, respectively, for future generations. Finally 73 populations selected from 117 F2 population, 104 number 27 head and 39 lines were selected from 270 number of F3-Fn.
