The favourable rainfed ecosystem intergrades with irrigated rice, where field water cannot be controlled and hindered by drought and submergence. Hence, this study aimed to evaluate and recommend nutrient management that would be best suited to favourable rainfed ecosystem. The study was conducted in a farmer's field in Nayon, Lamut, Ifugao and Ubao, Aguinaldo, Ifugao using variety NSIC RC272. Five treatments were applied, namely: (1) no fertilizer, (2) use of palaycheck (MOET), (3) use of nutrient manager recommendation with 45-25-25 fertilizer rate, (4) use of soil analysis recommendation with 45-60-60 fertilizer rate, and (5) use of farmer's practice with 45-0-30 fertilizer rate. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete black design (RCBD) with 3 replications. The plot size was 30 sqm (5m x 6m). Based on the fertilizer recommendation following different soil limitation, all treatments have equal rates of nitrogen (N) fertilizer. As a result, soil laboratory analysis recommendation gave the highest significant yield at one dry season and two consecutive wet seasons and MOET recommendation gave the highest yield at one wet season. The nutrient manager obtained the lowest yield with an average of 2.26 t/ha on all four seasons. A separate trial was also conducted on station to determine proper rate of phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) under MOET recommendation. However, rainfall pattern was different from the original set-up of nutrient management in Nayon, Lamut and Aguinaldo, Ifugao. Thus, the recommendation was to increase the P and K rates based on the MOET recommendation kit. This is applicable for rainfed ecosystem only since the lack of water affects P and K availability, and becomes limited to plant absorption.
