Present studies were carried out to observe the potential germination performance of early cauliflower (Brassica olerecea) cultivars under fields and laboratory conditions. Three early varieties namely C4, S98 and Second Early were selected and sown in the field in early week of June when average temperature was 39 - 42 degree C. While in the laboratory these varieties were sown at controlled temperature (23 plus minus 2 degree C) and humidity was maintained at 50 %. The traits like, rate of the seed germination, germination speed, and the time required for 50% seed germination of all varieties under laboratory conditions were determined. While under field conditions the traits, number of leaves/seedling at transplanting time and mortality percentage of seedlings after transplantation (5-15 days) were also determined. In both laboratory and field conditions all varieties responded well for which purpose these studies were conducted.
