Dendromass or woody biomass is an abundant renewable energy carrier. Forest residues are the remaining fraction after harvest and outtake of the wood timber, including tree tops and barks. Dendromass in quality of firewood is used as primary raw material within production of solid biofuels. During this process it is most often used air dry firewood. This firewood could be from various types of wood species. This paper deals with energy properties of dendromass in quality of air dry firewood. During experiments were tested following wood species: Norway spruce, silver fir, oak, birch, beech and Black Locust wood without and with bark. There were tested these energy parameters: density, bark content, moisture content, LHV and HHV (gross and net calorific value) and ash content. The results show that energy parameters of air dry firewood affect various aspects as species of wood, place of growing (soil quality), methods of storage and a method of dendromass preparing –feedstock treatment for biofuels production. Conversion of agricultural and forestry lignocellulose into fuels, chemicals, and materials has become a hot topic.
