In a course of the research there was studied the application of nitrogen fertilizers and retardants in cultivation of tetraploid rye (Secale cereale) variety. The research was realized in the Republic of Belarus in 2011-2013 in a crop rotation of the Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Arable Farming, Zhodino (Belarus). As a result of realized research there was revealed the optimal dose of nitrogen fertilizer application for Bielaya Viezha tetraploid variety (split application of N120 (90+30 kg/ha)) which provided the highest yield increase with protein content of 12.6% as well as positive variety response to double application of retardants. The largest increase of grain yield of winter variety Bielaya Viezha was received at a dose of nitrogen fertilizer 120 kg/ha ai, and at entering of it fractionally (90 kg – in the stage of the DC 25, 30 kg – in the stage of the DC 31-32) and at the double use of retardants. Fractional use of nitrogen had a positive effect on protein content in grain: the introduction of N120 in three stages increased protein content in grain by 0.5% relative to a twofold application.
