Gas chromatography is one of the most frequently used analytical methods for separation of volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds. However, one dimensional GC has a limited possibility to achieve satisfactory separation efficiency when separation of complicated matrices is required. This lack of separation efficiency can be overcome by using of two dimensional approaches. The one of the most frequently used modes of two dimensional chromatography is comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GCxGC). This work deals with overview of environmental applications of the GCxGC.
