Selection results of mother trees of Phuc Hoa early lychee variety in Bac Giang province

The Fruit and Vegetable Research Institutc in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Giang province carr├¡ed out a survey of populations of the Phuc Hoa early lychee variety ỉnTan Yen district, Bac Giang province during 2011-2014. The purpose of the study is to select the elite early lychee trees, thereby propagating planting materials for production development. As a result of investigation, observation and evaluation of Phuc Hoa early lychee variety in 5 communes/towns of Tan Yen district, Bac Giang province in 2013, 35 elite trees were selected. These trees are 9-18 years old with good growth, high yield, stable quality and harvesting time of 25 May - 5 June. Up to 2014, based on the surveyed and selection results, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Giang province has acknowledged 20 of the 35 elite trees of Phuc Hoa early lychee which meet propagation requirements. The everage yield given by these trees during 2012 - 2014 reached 68.3-136.7 kg/tree, fruit weight of 33.2-33,7 gram, brix of 16.8-17.5%, dry matter content of 17.6-18.8%.
