In this study, the effect of formula diet containing aloe noodles was assessed in SD rats with loperamide-induced constipation. Under constipation conditions, the group fed formula diet showed increased fecal numbers from 12.61±0.53 to 19.33±0.89, fecal weight (g) from 1.66±0.06 to 3.06±0.19, as well as moisture content (%) from 30.93±0.35 to 36.22±0.14 compared to the group fed normal diet. In addition, intestinal transit time was 620.7±16.2 minutes in the formula diet group and 725.2±13.6 minutes in the normal diet group. Aloe noodle formula diet improved bowel activity and smoothness of bowel movements, as the number of digestive remnants in the intestinal tract was reduced in the formula diet group (4.9±0.9) compared with the normal diet group (7.1±0.7) under constipation conditions. These results indicate that aloe noodles can be effective for the prevention of constipation.
