The author's collective monograph is prepared on the basis of the progress made in the project of the National Research Programme ''Transformation of Economy, Smart Growth, Governance and Legal Framework for Sustainable Development of the State and Society - A New Approach to Creation of a Sustainable Knowledge Society (EKOSOC-LV)'' 5.2.3. - ''Regional Rural Development in the Context of the Knowledge Economy'', which is part of the spatial development project block. The publication of the monograph is financed by the funds of the programme EKOSOC-LV.
