Soil biota and the presence of organic matter are the major factors in developing soil structure in sandy soils. Both, advantages and disadvantages of sandy soil in agriculture were discussed. Experiments show that microbial activity in sandy soil is significantly low as compared to loamy sand soil. It was attributed to microbial respiration, enzyme activity, as well as the number of colony-forming units. Further experiments are necessary to optimise the formulations added to soil.
