Mass culturing of Trichoderma harzianum and its efficacy against soil borne plant pathogens
2014
Majeed, U.
Many soil borne plant pathogens adversely affect quantity and quality of vegetable produce under tunnel. Current research was an effort to produce Trichoderma harizanum on cheaper substrate under laboratory condition and its direct application in sick fields under walk in tunnel. Maximum number of T. harizanum strains was collected from diverse habitats. After microscopic identification all strains will be subjected to dual culture technique against selected soil born plant pathogens. Out of Four strain of Trichoderma harizanum, Th-FFCPB shows 36.58% reduction against Fusarium oxysporum and 28.84 % against Macrophomina phaseolina in CRD Design with three replicate. The strain with satisfactory antagonistic efficiency will be further cultivated on solid substrate in polythene bags. Th-FFCPB mass multiply on four cheaper substrate out of which cotton waste gave maximum growth of 6.48% with 20 % maize flour as supplement. Moreover, vegetative growth of bio control agent will be determined through estimation of protein content. The experiment will be further extended to field under walk in tunnel, which was infected before transplanting seedlings. At last, evaluate effect of Trichoderma harizanum with two fungicides Topsin-M and Carbendazine in tunnel but their effect as compare to fungicides is less in both hybrid and non- hybrid tomato and bell pepper. Hence, Trichoderma harizanum perform best in vitro but failed to gave their effect in vivo. Positive and negative control, will serve to compare the result. The data will be subjected to statically analysis for comparison of mean through LSD test.
