The house rat (Rattus rattus) is considered as one of the important rodent pests in the subcontinent. Occasionally, it is also considered as the ship rat since it was transported from the native European region to the sub-continent through the navigatory ships. Suitable ecological circumstances have been instrumental in expanding its population wide spread. The rodent is also familiar in the household conditions, whereas the population is also present in abundance in various market places, where there is sufficient food material available. Not only the damage can be intensive by the house rat in different ecological conditions, but also significant fiscal losses can also result this study, therefore, focuses on determining the population abundance of house rat in the grain market of Faisalabad to know about its population abundance and the possible damage. Present work regarding the population abundance of house rat (Rattus rattus) in the grain markets of Faisalabad presents the information of rodent capture during the morning and evening hours. The number of rodents (house rat) remained fairly high during the evening, 203(plus minus 0.76) and morning 89(plus minus 0.66).It was concluded that, the grain markets remain one of the main areas of rodent infestation and should be appropriately cleaned up to reduce the possibility of rodent infestation. This should be done invariably at all places for augmenting with least rodent population.
