This paper presents the profitability analysis of agricultural companies in the Southeastern Europe. the research is based on 9.066 observations in the period 2012-2014. Firstly, we investigate differences in the level of profitability of agricultural companies between two groups of companies: member states of the European Union and other countries in Southeastern Europe. In the second part, the differences in the profitability of agricultural companies between the individual countries are examined, in accordance with the existence of specific business conditions at the level of each country. The research shows that the profitability of agricultural companies in European Union is significantly higher than the profitability of agricultural companies in other countries in Southeastern Europe. Furthermore, the results indicate differences in the profitability of agricultural companies between the individual countries, in a way that the specific characteristics of the business environment in each country may be a more important factor of profitability than the membership in the European Union.
