Study of genetic variability and heritability over extended dates of sowing in bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)
2013
Ranjana . | Suresh Kumar
The genetic variability and heritability of fourteen quantitative characters involving20 cultivars of wheat were evaluated. All characters showed the considerable amount ofvariability in all three extended dates of sowing. High phenotypic and genotypic coefficientof variation was observed for grain yield per plant, grain yield per plot, productive tillers perm2, grains per spike, Biological yield per plant, harvest index and moderate for plant height, flag leaf length, width and test weight. The high heritability coupled with high geneticadvance was observed for the characters plant height, productive tillers, spike length and testweight in all three dates of sowing. Thus these traits could be used effectively for theimprovement of high yielding varieties of wheat for early, timely and late sown conditions.
