The development of Latvian warmblood horse breed sport type is based on breeding of horses suitable for show jumping and dressage, concentrating on the workability of the horse, using the best European sport horse pedigrees. The aim of the study was to analyse a pedigree of stud stallions licensed for using in Latvian warmblood horse breed, sire lines, reproducing tendencies to detect a direction of breeding and predict effect to quality of breed. 35.2% of all stud stallions are imported. Almost half of stallions (48.6%) have ancestors bred in Latvia more than four generations, mostly in pedigree side of dam. Count of generations bred in Latvia in average was 2.1±0.2 and percentage of Latvian breed horses in fourth generation of pedigree in average – 7.96±1.28%. Count of generations from imported stallions was 0.5±0.1 in average. Significant difference was found between age groups in count of generations from imported sire and count of generations bred in Latvia (p is less than 0.05), because 64.6% of stallions, born before 2002, were imported while only 18.2% from stallions, born in 2012 and after, were imported (3.8% from all stallions), therefore influence of an artificial insemination increased. Stud stallions mostly represented seven sire lines – Cor de la Bryere (n=26), Ibrahim (n=15), Ramzes (n=14), Ladykiller (n=13), Capitol I (n=10), Furioso II (n=9) of with Cor de Bryere spread most widely. Few sire lines as Ramzes and Furioso II continued by many generations in Latvian breed. Some related sire groups had formed – Calliano, Colibri, Acobat III, Aromāts, Radiants, Levantos, Gvidons un Calano II.
