2017
Türkay, B.
This study was conducted in order to determine the nutritional status and quality of life of a total of 226 notaries and notary public employees; 116 female and 110 male aged between 19-64 years in Ankara between January and March 2017. Information on personal and general characteristics of the individuals, nutritional habits, physical activity habits, nutritional information levels, daily nutrient intake and quality of life were questioned through a questionnaire form. Short Form-36 (SF-36) quality of life scale was used to determine information about the quality of life of individuals. Individual nutritional knowledge levels were calculated on 10 points, and the scores were divided into three categories: good (8 and over), moderate (6 and 7 points) and bad (5 and six points). The mean score of nutrition knowledge of female individuals was found to be 7.40 ± 1.67, and the nutrition knowledge score of males was found to be 5.50 ± 1.56. This difference between the groups was interpreted to be statistically meaningful (p <0.05). It was determined that the level of nutrition was increased by the increase of the education levels of the individuals (p <0.05). It was found that the individuals who had good nutrition knowledge did not have the habit of skipping meals (p <0.05). It was determined that females had more fiber and protein consumption than males (p <0.05). There was a negative correlation between body mass indexes and physical and social function scores of the individuals and this relationship was statistically meaningful (p <0.05). It was determined that the average physical function and general health point averages of the subjects with good nutritional knowledge level were higher than those with poor and medium nutritional knowledge level but the results were not statistically significant (p> 0.05). The average physical function, energy and general health point scores of the subjects with regular physical activity were higher than those who did not have regular physical activity (p <0.05). The physical function, physical role limitation, general health status and physical health summary scores of the individuals who had meal habit were found to be lower than the average scores of the other individuals (p <0.05). As a result, it was observed that the eating habits, physical activity frequency, nutritional information levels and bodily mass index of the subjects participating in the study have an effect on their quality of life.
