This paper aims to quantify from the technical, economical and sustainable point of view the theo-retical and feasible potential of agricultural residues to generate heat through the production of solid biofuels in the form of briquettes. To this end, a methodology has been developed based on a statistical and geographical system of information on the quality and quantity of agricultural residues specific to the Northern Development Region of the Republic of Moldova. Results reveal that only 9% of the total residues can be used directly for the production of densified biofuels with a calorific value in accordance with ENPlus international standards.
