Pharmacological correction of the immune state of turkeys affected by Eimeria and Histomonas isone of the topical issues of veterinary practice. Among the wide variety of phytopreparations with a highimmunostimulatory effect, those from milk thistle should be remarked. Its fruits contain flavolignans, vitamins (A,E, K), macroelements (K, Ca, Mg, Cu, Zn, Fe), fatty acids (oleic, linolenic, palmitic, stearic) and this determines thehigh pharmacological effect of milk thistle fruit based preparations. In experiments conducted on 458 turkeypoults, spontaneously infected by Eimeria and Histomonas, the therapeutic efficiency of the new antieimerialpreparation Amprolinsil (containing milk thistle powder) was investigated in comparison with the preparationBrovitacoccid. From the results of the investigation of protein synthesis liver function, we concluded that theuse of Brovitacoccid, thanks to its antiprotozoal action, eliminates the effect of toxins on the liver and intestinalmucosa. However, the recovery of protein synthesis function occurs 10 days after clinical healing. When usingAmprolinsil, the recovery of liver function occurs on the 5th day after clinical healing that is extremely essentialfor growing turkeys in farms with different forms of ownership.
