In this study the herbicidal activity of essential oils of rosemary and sage was tested on the weed species Chenopodium album L., during 2018, at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad. The essential oils were applied at concentrations of 1, 5 and 10% (v/v). Plants were treated with essential oil of clove (Syzygium aromaticum L.) (4% (v/v)) as standard, wine vinegar solution (1:10) and kitchen salt NaCl (1:8), while the control variants remained untreated. The evaluation was carried out 1, 24, 48, 72, 96, 120 and 144 h after application. Essential oils of rosemary and sage in both applications rate had high efficacy compared to the control. Phytotoxic changes in the form of turgor loss, chlorotic and later necrotic spots, were determined after 24 hours from the application. Low efficacy had a wine vinegar solution, while high efficacy was in the treatment with NaCl solution. The essential oil of clove in the amount of application of 4% (v / v), caused the greatest damage in relation to the applied essential oils.
