The article highlights the issues of creation and formation of the National seed bank of genetic resources of economically useful plants. The results of mobilization, conservation, identification and use of the genetic resources for the creation of new highly productive domestic varieties and hybrids in order to ensure the food security of the Republic of Belarus are shown. The collected gene pool of the plant resources in the Republican Unitary Enterprise "The Research and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Arable Farming", developed modern breeding methods and varieties obtained on their basis provide a reliable foundation for the successful development of the plant growing industry in the Republic of Belarus. The seed collections of the National Gene Bank are a strategic resource and the basis for sustainable crop production in the Republic of Belarus, the primary basis for the creation of new highly productive domestic varieties and hybrids and rightfully belong to the scientific objects of the National Heritage. /В статье освещены вопросы создания и формирования Национального банка семян генетических ресурсов хозяйственно полезных растений. Показаны результаты мобилизации, сохранения, идентификации и использования генетических ресурсов для создания новых высокопродуктивных отечественных сортов и гибридов в целях обеспечения продовольственной безопасности страны. Собранный генофонд ресурсов растений в РУП «Научно-практический центр НАН Беларуси по земледелию», разработанные современные методы селекции и полученные на их основе сорта обеспечивают надежный фундамент успешного развития отрасли растениеводства в стране. Коллекции семян Национального генбанка являются стратегическим ресурсом и основой устойчивого производства продукции растениеводства в Республике Беларусь, первоосновой создания новых высокопродуктивных отечественных сортов и гибридов и по праву относятся к научным объектам Национального достояния.
